Suspects Nabbed After Bad Maspeth Break-In

Three men who were allegedly involved in the failed burglary of a Maspeth home on Monday morning, Feb. 27, were collared by police in Ridgewood a short time later, law enforcement sources reported.

Police identified the three suspects as 28-year-old Freddie Perez of Woodbridge, N.J., 32-year-old Damian Olmeda of 102nd Avenue in Ozone Park and 26-year-old Oscar Fajardo of Baldwin, L.I.

Law enforcement sources noted that the 104th Precinct Detective Squad is investigating a possible link between the three suspects and a series of recent burglaries which have occurred in the Maspeth area.

According to police, the break-in took place at around 11:20 a.m. Monday at a home located on 58th Road near 66th Street.

Reportedly, two of the perpetra- tors were spotted entering the residence through a side door, causing damage as a result.

Moments after entering the home, authorities said, one of the two residents inside discovered the alleged burglars and called police. The suspects then fled from the residence through the same way they entered.

The other resident reportedly followed the two suspects as they entered a blue 2006 Dodge Charger that was observed fleeing westbound along Flushing Avenue.

Members of the 104th Precinct responded to the home shortly after receiving the 911 call about the break-in. It was determined that no items were taken.

After obtaining a description of the suspected burglars and the getaway vehicle, police launched a canvass of the surrounding area. Shortly thereafter, law enforcement sources said, 104th Precinct officers stopped a blue Dodge Charger fitting the description of the getaway car at the corner of Flushing and Woodward avenues in Ridgewood.

Perez, Olmeda and Fajardo, who were inside the vehicle at the time, were taken into custody following questioning and charged with burglary. Reportedly, each of the suspects has a prior criminal record including arrests for crimes allegedly committed in Brooklyn.

As noted, the investigation is ongoing.
