Neighbors said a teenager ran out of his South Jamaica house in desperate search for help late Sunday night after his mother was murdered by her boyfriend before he turned the weapon on himself in what the police are calling a murder-suicide.

When police responded to a house on Dillon Street around 11:40 Sunday night, they found 41-year-old Roxanne Lambert and her boyfriend, 32-year-old Everol Ellington both unconscious with a gunshot wound to each of their heads.

Just a few houses down, neighbors said Lambert’s 16-year-old son came knocking on their door just before midnight, telling them his 2-year-old brother came down to his basement bedroom and told him their mother had just been shot and killed.

“He told our mom to call the cops,” recounted one young girl later the next day, who said her mother was sleeping Monday morning after spending the entire night talking with police.

The adolescent girl said her mother was friendly with Lambert, who had moved into the home about three years ago with Ellington and three children. According to a family friend, only the 2-year-old was fathered by the Ellington.

Tanya Brown lives across the street from the home and said she heard Lambert’s 19-year-old daughter screaming in the street when she arrived home after midnight.

“I heard her screaming and crying,” she said. “I guess she saw the cops and thought something had happened.”

Noel Perira said Lambert worked at the Brooklyn Development Center, although he never met her boyfriend.

“Two weeks ago, I saw her at the hairdresser,” he said. “She was happy.”

When asked about the status of their relationship, Perira replied, “Nobody is perfect.”
