Mike Baxter came to Dwarf Giraffe Athletic to speak to the kids of Whitestone, the neighborhood he grew up in.
Major Leaguer Mike Baxter of the NY Mets comes home to his Whitestone roots and spent some time giving back to his community for the kids at Dwarf Giraffe Athletic League in Whitestone.
Mike emphasized the importance of education as he shared his journey up to the big leagues to the local ball players. Mike also spent time on some hitting tips to our young children. His message was work hard, study and good things will happen! We all wish him the best in his future in the Major Leagues!
About Dwarf Giraffe Athletic League
Dwarf Giraffe Athletic League is a non profit, non sectarian organization that has served the Whitestone Community since 1955. Over the years DG has offered programs to thousands of youngsters with an emphasis on instruction, sportsmanship and teamwork. The League is governed by a constitution whose objective states that winning and attainment of exceptional athletic skill are secondary to the policy that there will be equal playing time amongst all players.
The operations of DG are community oriented and strive to serve the athletic and social needs of the boys and girls in our community.
