Police were searching for clues Tuesday as they investigated two deadly South Jamaica shootings.
Cops responded to a 911 call of a person shot at 104-45 164th St. just before midnight Monday and found 20-year-old Charles Jones with a gunshot wound to his head, the NYPD said.
When emergency medical responders arrived on the scene, they pronounced Jones dead, according to police.
Willie Birmingham, 67, said Jones grew up with her sons, but she did not know him well.
“He just got out of jail,” she said. “I heard people on the block say he’s in a gang.”
Jones was released on parole May 31 after serving time for a criminal possession of a controlled substance charge, according to the state Department of Corrections website.
Residents on 164th Street said Jones lived a “street” life and that he was on a bicycle when he was shot.
In another violent episode, a man was gunned down early Saturday morning and had not been identified by Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
Officers responded to a 911 call just before 2 a.m. of a man shot in front of 106-44 Ruscoe St. When they arrived, they found a 34-year-old black man with a gunshot wound to his torso, the NYPD said.
Emergency medical workers took the man to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
Both investigations were ongoing.
