MARTHA CHARLES of Ridgewood died on Saturday, September 8,
at Neighborhood Hospice in West
Chester, Pa. at the age of 88. Born in
Brooklyn, she was the daughter of
John Kausch and Caroline (nee
Kirschstein) Kausch, who were German immigrants. Martha was a first
generation German-American.
Martha lived her entire life in
New York City, where she graduated
from Bushwick High School in 1941.
She grew up during the Great Depression and was married in 1945 to
Howard E. Charles, whom she met
while he was serving in the U.S.
Navy. Howard was from Montgomery County, Pa.
Martha worked as a church secretary for St. John’s United Methodist
Church in Ridgewood. She is survived by her only child Carol Forrell,
son-in-law Eric, granddaughter Alison Forrell and great-grandchildren
Samantha Raby and Emily and Erica
Schreiner.

A wake was held on Wednesday,
September 12, at the Ralston and
Bredickas Life Celebration Home,
107 West Lancaster Ave., Downington, Pa. Services will be offered
graveside on Friday, September 14,
at Linden Hill Cemetery,
Ridgewood.

ELVA M. MONT died on Wednesday, September 5, at the age of 80.
She was the devoted mother of
James and Peter, mother-in-law of
Maria and Olga and dear sister of
Sarah Garcia. She is also survived by
two grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Anthony’s
Church, Brooklyn, followed by interment at Cypress Hills Cemetery,

Wednesday, September 5, at the age
of 73. He was the beloved brother of
John Prieto, Marie Prieto-LaRosa
and the late George Prieto and cherished uncle of George, Christopher
and Julia. Services were offered on

DOROTHY E. SHEA of Glendale
died on Friday, September 7, at the
age of 74. A native of Brooklyn, she
was the wife of the late Edmund
Shea, devoted aunt of Christine
Collins, Patricia and Alan Nerenberg
and Veronica Collins and loving
great-aunt of Marin and Elliot
Nerenberg. A wake will be held
today, Thursday, September 13, from
2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at
George Werst Funeral Home, 71-41
Cooper Ave., Glendale. Services will
be offered at 8:15 p.m. Thursday at
Werst Funeral Home by Pastor Gregory Sutterlin. She will be interred at
All Faiths Cemetery, Middle Village.

was the wife of the late John Mayer,

late John Mayer, cherished grandmother of Christopher and Andrea,
Melissa and Marcel, John, Gregory,
Michael, Nicholas, Danielle, Joseph,

MARGARET ANNA MULLER of
Glendale died on Friday, September
7 at the age of 92. Born in Brooklyn
on March 30, 1920, she was the
beloved wife of Christian, devoted
mother of Christina and Robert
Curth. She is survived by brother
John and many nieces and nephews
and was predeceased by sisters Betty
and Joan. Margaret and Christian
were partners of a knitting mill in the
Ridgewood area for 24 years. She
was also an American Legion Ladies
Auxiliary for two terms at Joseph B.
Garity Post 562. Services were offered at Hess-Miller Funeral Home,
64-19 Metropolitan Ave., Middle Village, followed by cremation at Fresh
Pond Crematory, Middle Village.

at the age of 81. A native of Stargthbogie West Morland, Jamaica, West
Indies, he was the beloved husband
of Hazel Brown, devoted father of
Olive McBean, Jennifer McBean,
Laurence McBean, Gavin McBean,
George McBean, Michael McBean,
Doris McBean, Janet McBean and
Edward Brown and dear brother of
Yvonne Lediard, Elizabeth McBean,

McBean, Sharon McBean and Myrtle McBean. He is also survived by
14 grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. Services were offered

of 67. A native of Brooklyn, she was

ISMAEL VAZQUEZ of Brooklyn
died on Sunday, September 9, at the
age of 86. A native of Aibonito,
Puerto Rico, he was the devoted father of Isabel Vazquez and dear
brother of Victor Santos. He is also

NORMA CATTANI of Ridgewood
died on Friday, September 7, at the
age of 85. A native of Brooklyn, she
was the husband of the late Richard,
devoted mother of Susan Lavery,
Jane Boone and Frank Cattani and
dear sister of Evelyn Biers. She is
also survived by six grandchildren.
