Flames ripped through a three-story apartment building in Elmhurst during a onealarm fire last Wednesday morning, Sept. 5, Fire Department sources stated. Reportedly, the blaze broke out at around 7:30 a.m. inside the first-floor laundromat located below apartments at a building at the corner of Hampton Street and Britton Avenue. Responding to the scene (listed in the order of their arrival) were members of Engine companies 289, 287, 307, 292 and 316; Ladder companies 138, 136, 154, 163 and 151; Squad Co. 288; Rescue 4 and Battalions 46 and 49-under the direction of Division 14-along with the 110th Precinct and EMS units. There were no reported injuries. Two hose lines were used by firefighters to bring the blaze under control, according to an FDNY source.
