Elderly sisters found dead in apartment

On Wednesday, October 3, police responded to an apartment on 108th Street, where a super told them he entered the residence after getting complaints of a leak.

Inside, police found two women, sisters Leah Roth, 88, and Ilene Roth, 79, on the floor, unconscious and unresponsive. Both were pronounced dead on the scene; the medical examiner will determine the cause of death. There are no signs of trauma or forced entry and the investigation is ongoing.
