Explicit Downloads Show Infant Abuse
Accused of downloading videos of an adult involved in sexual acts with a baby, a police officer assigned to duty in Queens was led to jail by his fellow officers last Monday, Feb. 18, law enforcement sources announced.
Sgt. Alberto Randazzo, 34, who is assigned to NYPD Patrol Borough Queens North, was cuffed last Monday morning by members of the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau at his home located within the confines of the 114th Precinct.
Randazzo’s residence had been searched by the bureau three days earlier on Feb. 15 as part of an investigation into charges that the officer allegedly obtained child pornography.
According to the criminal complaint provided by the Queens District Attorney’s office, detectives recovered a laptop computer from the home which was found to contain seven images and 13 videos of adults engaging in sexual acts with children, including an infant boy.
Obtained through a forensic examination of the laptop, police said, the seven pictures recovered showed an unidentified female simulating oral sex and other explicit acts on the infant child.
Also reportedly obtained were 11 videos of similar acts in which a male’s voice was heard giving instructions; police determined the voice to be that of Randazzo.
Finally, authorities noted, detectives found on the computer two videos of a girl between eight and 10 years of age performing sexual acts on an unidentified adult male.
Randazzo was charged with 11 counts of use of a child in a sexual performance, 23 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child and 23 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child.
According to a spokesperson for Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown, Randazzo was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court last Tuesday, Feb. 19, and released on $40,000 bail.
He is scheduled to return to court on Mar. 5.
Reportedly, the NYPD suspended Randazzo without pay pending the outcome of the case.
