The students at St. Pancras School in Glendale celebrated Pi Day last Thursday, Mar. 14 by participating in activities celebrating the Greek symbol (p) for the number that represents the circumference of a circle divided by its parameter (3.14). Fourth-graders blew bubbles on a desk and popped them, then measured the circle which the bubble left behind. Fifth-graders, meanwhile, used cookies to measure the circumference and diameter, and sixth-graders drew large circles in the schoolyard and classrooms. The classes were taught by Walter Stark.
