Manhole Explosions In Richmond Hill

Richmond Hill residents were awakened by the sound of several manhole explosions on their block early last Saturday morning, Mar. 9. Resident Janet Newton told the Times Newsweekly that several manholes along Park Lane South between 102nd and 104th streets ignited at around sunrise last Saturday. Officers from the 102nd Precinct and several Fire Department units rushed to the scene. Con Edison crews arrived at the location later to make emergency repairs. There were no reported injuries.
