During the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) recent District 24 Scholarship dinner/dance, Assemblyman Mike Miller was presented with the UFT Leadership Award for his advocacy of New York City public schools, teachers and students. Miller, who was chosen for the award by UFT District 24 chapter leaders, stated he approved in the state budget more than $8 billion in funding for city public schools, an increase of just over $363 million from the funding provided last year. The assemblyman is flanked by UFT District 24 Representative Rosemary Parker (at left) and Queens Coordinator Dermot Smyth.
