Residents and Politicians Celebrated Three Kings Day In Corona

The fifth-annual Three Kings Day celebration at the Florence E. Smith Senior Center in Corona on Sunday, Jan. 12, drew a big crowd and some of the city’s top political figures. Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito came to the event sponsored by City Council Member Julissa Ferreras and Rep. Joseph Crowley celebrating the Latin American traditions of Three Kings Day, which marks the Feast of the Epiphany. More than 1,000 toys were distributed to local children, and guests enjoyed live entertainment, complimentary refreshments and familyfriendly activities. De Blasio is pictured in the left photo with Ferreras, Crowley, Assemblyman Francisco Moya, Democratic District Leader George Dixon and three men representing the Magi, who (according to the Bible) visited the baby Jesus in Bethlehem and offered gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Ferreras, Crowley, Moya, Dixon and State Sen. Jose Peralta are shown in the right photo standing with parents and children at the event.
