Woman Fights Off Rapist During Woodside Attack

Cops Seek Help In Finding Culprit

Hoping that someone will recognize him and help bring him to justice, police released on Tuesday, June 17, pictures of a man who allegedly attempted to rape a woman on a Woodside street last week.

Law enforcement sources described the perpetrator (pictured at right) as a 17-year-old Hispanic male standing 5’5”-tall, weighing 165 lbs. with brown eyes, short black hair and a light complexion.

According to authorities, the suspect attacked a 61-year-old woman in the vicinity of 71st Street and 41st Avenue at about 10:45 p.m. last Wednesday night, June 11.

Reportedly, the attacker punched the woman in the face, then pushed her to the ground and attempted to rape her. Police said the victim managed to fight off the assailant, who then fled northbound on 71st Street.

Officers from the 108th Precinct received a report of the incident. The woman suffered minor injuries.

Police said the suspect was last observed wearing a blue soccer jersey with a red stripe down the right side as well as dark jeans and sneakers.

The case was presented to the NYPD Queens Special Victims Squad for further investigation, authorities noted.
