City Council Majority Leader will collect donations for a fifth holiday food drive at the Sunnyside district office, and the Broadway, Court Square, Long Island City, Sunnyside and Woodside Libraries until Dec. 12. Eric Ulrich will be accepting donations at the Ozone Park and Rockaway district offices until Nov. 20.

Ulrich’s veterans food drive is being run in partnership with the Food Bank For New york, he stated.

Both Welcome donations of non-perishable items including canned meats; soups; vegetables; canned or dried fruit; baby formula; peanut butter; and dried goods like pasta, rice and grains.

Ulrich has pledged to bring the donations to local kitchens and soup pantries in south Queens that serve veterans, he said in a statement.

In New York City, according to the Food Bank For NYC, nearly 30 percent of veterans rely on emergency food, Ulrich stated.

“In honor of their selfless sacrifice, we need to ensure that local food pantries and soup kitchens are equipped to assist our brave men and women with hot meals this upcoming holiday season,” Ulrich said.
