A New Jersey man forged a Queens woman’s credit card and used it to purchase thousands of dollars worth of clothing at two SoHo boutiques, authorities said.
The suspect, identified by police as 27-year-old Cesar Lithgow-Maldonado, of Union City, N.J., was captured on surveillance video during his shopping spree on Oct. 20.
He allegedly stopped by the Balenciaga store on Mercer Street near Prince Street, where he bought $636.92 in clothing, and the Versace store, just down the block on Mercer Street, where he scooped up $3,037.62 worth of clothing.
The products were purchased with a forged credit card belonging to a 40-year-old woman from the northeast Queens area, authorities said. It wasn’t clear how Lithgow-Maldonado was able to get ahold of the card.
Lithgow-Maldonado was previously arrested for committing the same offense in Stanford, Conn., according to police.
