Ditmars water main burst sends one to hospital: FDNY

A water main burst in Ditmars early Saturday, flooding close to 100 homes and sending one resident to the hospital, the FDNY said.

The Fire Department said it believes the water main broke at 4:24 a.m.

Paramedics removed a resident from a basement apartment on 23rd Street near 24th Road and rushed this individual to Elmhurst Hospital.

The person’s condition was not immediately known, the FDNY said.

FDNY left the scene at 12:32 p.m., but noted that the city Department of Buildings was on scene and estimated close to 100 homes were flooded.

The DOB could not immediately be reached for comment.
