A 22-year-old man was arrested Friday in the murder of a young father in Jackson Heights in December, the NYPD said.
East Elmhurst resident William Avila was arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon for allegedly stabbing Steven Shimabuju, 25, of Jackson Heights, in the torso, police said.
Shimabuju was found stabbed in his torso in his home Dec. 19 at about 9:13 p.m., according to officials. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead.
Police had identified the suspect as an adult Hispanic male who was wearing a camouflage jacket with an American flag decal on the back, dark pants and white sneakers, they said.
