A 21-year woman who was crossing Ditmars Blvd this morning was struck and killed by a motorist who fled the scene.
Betty Jean Dibiasio, an Astoria resident, was knocked to the pavement while crossing Ditmars Boulevard at 19th Street at around 12:30 am.
The police arrived on the scene and found Dibiasio lying on the roadway, unconscious and unresponsive with severe head trauma. She was transported to Elmhurst Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The NYPD determined that she was hit by a car traveling westbound on Ditmars Bound while Dibiasio was walking from south to north.
The driver fled the scene. There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
