SATURDAY, SEPT. 5

Join yoga instructor Helen Kilgallen from Elaine’s Dance School for Yoga on the Beach. Work on flexibility and strength in this beginner Hatha Yoga class. Bring a mat, large towel or blanket. GrowNYC Greenmarket provides the Long Island and Astoria communities with farm-fresh produce and family fun activities every Saturday. Enjoy an hour of free yoga in the park designed for all experience levels. Kripalu Yoga focuses on posture, breathing techniques, relaxation and mediation. Family Health and Fitness Day presents a fun-filled day of fitness demonstrations, races, contests, crafts, a puppet show and more! Children ages 5 to 14 are invited with their families to work with a different artist each week at the Saturday Sculpture Workshops. Explore a myriad of different art types and subject matters. Enjoy a morning of free tai chi in the park led by instructors from the Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA. The Queens Historical Society welcomes you to explore their newest exhibition, “Leading the Way: Six Outstanding Women of Queens.” Learn about women from a variety of backgrounds who at one point worked or lived in Queens. The exhibition includes the life and work of Helen Keller, Betty Friedan, Rise Stevens, Lisa Randall, Grace Lee Boggs and Yeou-Cheng Ma. $5 adults, $3 seniors and students, free for Queens Historical Society members. 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Kingsland Homestead in Margaret I.
