By Gabriel Rom

An Israeli man who was living in Maspeth died Oct. 2 when he attempted to escape from a stalled elevator at a posh building in Williamsburg. In the gruesome incident, the man’s head was pinned between the elevator and the floor.

Investigators believe the elevator inside The Espoir building in Williamsburg was overloaded with about 14 people when Eran Modan, 37, tried to escape in the early morning hours, according to authorities.

Modan suffered extensive trauma to his head and chest and was pronounced dead on the scene, cops said.

The elevator has had four violations, all resolved, since 2013, records show.

The incident was under investigation.
