As part of the “Hulu Summer Road Trip,” three episodes of “Seinfeld” will be screened at Hunters Point South Park on July 28.
Jerry, George and Elaine will grace the screen once again during a screening of the show’s season 8 finale episode, “The Summer of George.” Two additional episodes will be chosen by fans on social media. Organizers said they will give the audience about five options to choose from.
Fans will also be treated to a premiere of the documentary short, “They’re Real & They’re Spectacular: Seinfeld Super Fans and the Summer of George.”
The event, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is co-hosted by the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy, will also include giveaways, “frolfing,” a game played by George in the last episode, a Seinfeld cast look-alike contest, an Elaine dance-off, show-themed food options, photo opportunities and more.
The first 200 guests will also receive a Seinfeld limited edition art print.
In the show, characters Jerry Seinfeld and George Costanza were from Queens. Costanza’s parents lived in Kew Gardens on the show, but the outside shot of the home was actually of a house in Astoria. The show’s Queens roots make Long Island City a great place to air the episodes, according Rob Basch, president of the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy.
“Jerry and George are both from Queens and many of the classic episodes took place in the Costanza household.” Basch said. “We are excited to host a celebration of this classic series in the home borough where two of its main stars grew up.”
Long Island City is the second stop of Hulu’s road trip, which will also screen episodes of “Cheers,” “Saved by the Bell,” “The O.C.” and more across the country.
