Cyclist killed on Grand Central Parkway

CORONA – A cyclist was killed early Monday morning after riding along the left shoulder of the Grand Central Parkway in the vicinity of 111th Street, according to the NYPD. The man, whose identity was not released pending family notification, was struck by a Mazda MPV minivan and died at the scene, police said.

The 33-year-old driver of the van remained at the scene and no charges were filed. The rider becomes the 17th cyclist killed in 2016, compared to 11 death through August 2015, according to advocates.
