Thieves broke into a Kew Gardens Hills home in the middle of the day Wednesday and took off with $80,000 worth of gold bricks and $50,000 in cash, police said.
The burglars broke into the home, located on 77th Avenue home near 164th Street, around noon after forcing open a rear bedroom window, according to police.
They stole 60 ounces of gold (valued at $80,000), $50,000 in cash, 2 handguns, jewelry, credit cards and a passport, police said.
The homeowner discovered that has house had been ransacked when he returned home at around 7:30 pm and his front door was open.
The homeowner did not have an alarm system or surveillance cameras.
