Nest Restaurant and Bar, a Guyanese-Caribbean fusion restaurant in South Richmond Hill, will be having its 6th annual Duck Curry Competition Sunday.
Twelve different teams will be competing to show off who has the best duck in town.
“It’s a West Indian tradition that is specific to Guyana and Trinidad that we wanted to bring up here,” Manager Maria Bolton said.
There will be a taste test of the contestants’ food by several judges and the first place winner gets a trophy and $500 in prize money.
The restaurant located at 125-17 101st Ave.
The judges will be choosing the winner based on flavor combinations, the tenderness of the meat and presentation, according to Bolton.
“It’s our busiest time of the year and the place becomes crowded and it’s crazy, but it’s fun.”
Each competing team gets to leave with two ducks, one bottle of vodka of their choice and T-shirts for their group.
Afterwards, guests can get back to trying out the restaurant’s fusion cuisine.
