There’s a new kid in town in Forest Hills.
Queens Bully, lovingly named after what Queens-native part owners Rohan Aggarwal and Suraj Patel called Queens Boulevard growing up, is located on the corner of the major roadway and 76th Road. The unique neighborhood addition will have a soft opening on July 6, followed by a grand opening on July 13.
Aggarwal describes the ambiance of the 2,000-square-foot, 100-seat space as “cool and comfortable.”
“The ambiance is very different compared to other restaurants in the area,” the part owner said. “We’ve sourced vintage antiques from various parts of the country that gives the space this really cool and comfortable vibe.”
Celebrating the Queens melting pot, guests can expect dishes inspired by the diverse groups of people who live and work in the borough.
“Our menu pulls inspiration from these localities, where you’ll find small clusters of ethnic groups cooking up some pretty amazing food,” Aggarwal said. “For example, if you pass by Corona, you must stop by a taco truck and indulge in fresh made tacos. Or, if you’re in Jackson Heights, a stop at one of the many kebab shops is a must. In Jamaica, the jerk chicken and beef patties; in Bayside, spicy Korean cuisine; in Astoria, seafood and gyros. It’s endless.”
From the restaurant’s executive chef Arim Isabel, guests can expect to find dishes like Korean fried sticky wings, shrimp ceviche stuffed avocados, artisanal naan pizzas and Mexican corn elote. On the menu is also a selection of barbecued meats, including the 14-hour slow roasted Bayside Brisket and the Off The Bully Baby Back Ribs, straight from the restaurant’s in-house smoker.
And, for the sweet tooth, expect Key Lime Pie, Fluffernutter Bites, handspun milkshakes and more.
Ingredients will be sourced from the Forest Hills Greenmarket and the restaurant’s basement-level hydroponic garden. An expanded rooftop garden will open in the spring of 2018.
“Queens has an incredible food scene to explore, and we wanted to celebrate and honor that at Queens Bully,” the part-owner said.
Those looking for a diverse drink selection will not be disappointed, Aggarwal continued. The eatery will feature local New York craft beers by bottle or can, six rotating beer options on tap, unique specialty cocktails and a selection of bourbons, rye, whiskey and wine by the glass or bottle. Guests can also enjoy a daily happy hour between 4 and 7 p.m., with rotating specials.
“We’ve always had a dream of opening something unique in our neighborhood, and we think we’ve done that with Queens Bully,” Aggarwal said.
