Homeless man dead from head trauma in Jamaica

The medical examiner ruled the death of a homeless man who died on Independence Day at Jamaica Hospital a homicide, according to police.

Staffers at the hospital reported the unidentified man to police July 2, according to authorities.

The man, who was later identified as Edgar Rivera, had severe head trauma, according to the NYPD.

Staffers at Jamaica Hospital told the police Rivera was transported from 171st Street and Jamaica Avenue to the hospital in critical condition.

Rivera succumbed to his injuries two days later, according to the NYPD.
