A Brooklyn man has been arrested and charged in six incidents involving a bike rider who exposed himself to young girls, the NYPD said.
Christopher Carrero, 23, of Bushwick was busted, taken to the 104th Precinct in Ridgewood and booked for a half-dozen incidents in western Queens, where he would allegedly approach young girls on a bicycle, draw their attention and then expose himself to the victims before riding away, according to the NYPD.
He was charged with six counts of acting in a manner injurious to a child and six counts of public lewdness after the NYPD received a tip, the department said.
Police said he is suspected of targeting girls between the ages of 11 and 15 in Ridgewood, Glendale, Maspeth and Woodside since May.
The NYPD received a tip from an acquaintance of Carrero’s and he was arrested in Manhattan and taken to the 104th Precinct house Wednesday night.
The incidents occurred between May and November with the first taking place May 11 near 48th Street and Laurel Hill Boulevard when the man approached a 13-year-old victim and asked for a piece of paper before exposing himself, according to the NYPD. It happened again nearly an hour later a block away from Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood when the cyclist exposed himself to a 14-year old girl, police said.
Other incidents took place near Evergreen Park in Ridgewood and near IS 77 in Ridgewood. Victims range in age from 11 to 15, police said.
The NYPD released a photo of the suspect from a May 30 incident near 51st Place and 72nd Place in Woodside, and he was caught twice on surveillance video in Ridgewood on Oct. 2 and Oct. 17, according to the police. Posters bearing Carrero’s image were posted on street lights around Ridgewood, and the surveillance video was shown widely on TV news, leading to the tip, police said.
