Investigation Discovery’s new television show “Homicide City” will be coming to film scenes in to Ridgewood this week.
According to a notice sent out by the Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management, on Thursday, Nov. 9, cast and crew for the crime re-enactment show will shoot scenes inside and outside of 15 Charlotte St., and outside of 6 Charlotte St. between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 11 p.m., and 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. the following morning, respectively.
From 1 to 2:30 p.m. crews will be filming establishing shots of the exterior of 15 Charlotte St., which will be known as the “Johnson House” in the show. From 2:30 to 4 p.m., various interior dialogue scenes will be filmed.
Then, from 4 to 5 p.m., there will be a “Teddy Bear Vigil” next to crime scene tape at the “Johnson House” where teddy bears, candles and vigils will be passed along between various family members.
From 5 to 8:30 p.m., crews will film the crime scene where three background police officers clear the way for two background EMT workers to rush the character Natise out on a stretch and onto the ambulance. Natise will be covered in a white blanket. Three family members watch on as they are huddled together. A detective pulls up to the crime scene in his vehicle just as the ambulance leaves the scene, and the officers and family members are in the background, along with a cruiser. The detective exits the car and surveys the scene.
Finally, from 8:45 to 11 p.m., outside of the “Johnson House,” the detective speaks with a background officer and then moves on to talk to the character Tyree, who is a suspect. The detective questions him with the crime scene still going on in the background.
The parking restrictions in conjunction with this filming are as follows:
- The east side of Flushing Avenue between Charlotte Street and Onderdonk Avenue for two truck lengths; and
- Half of both the north and south side of Charlotte Street between Flushing Avenue and the dead end.
Crews have also requested lights on both sides of street on sidewalk, and a camera and dana dolly in to be placed in the curb lane.
Between the hours of 11 p.m. and midnight, exterior scenes at 6 Charlotte St. will be filmed. The scene will consist of a detective, accompanied by a background officer, speaking with a neighbor on their front porch.
There are no parking restrictions associated with this portion of the filming.
