Ring in the New Year with a new, hockey-inspired beer from a soon-to-be Flushing brewery.
Mikkeller, an international brewing company that is in the process of constructing a new production and retail space at the New York Mets’ Citi Field, is launching the Filthy Flow IPA on Dec. 30. The new release pays homage to the New York Rangers and the Buffalo Sabres, who will face off at the stadium for hockey’s annual outdoor game, the NHL Winter Classic.
The Filthy Flow IPA will be sold in cans for take-home consumption at the under-construction brewery at Citi Field from noon until 6 p.m. that day, subject to availability. Shoppers can also get a sneak peak at the new space while being rung up. Parking will be available in Lot G.
Drawing inspiration from the sporting event, the label was designed by Mikkeller art director, Keith Shore. Mikkeller teamed up with Buffalo’s Thin Man Brewery to produce the beer, which is brewed with Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic and Galaxy hops.
For those who can’t wait until the Dec. 30 release, Filthy Flow IPA is now available on tap at Alewife, located 5-14 51st Ave., and at bars in Brooklyn, Manhattan and upstate New York. For the full list, visit Mikkeller’s website.
Mikkeller NYC — located next to the right field gate on 126th Street — will be the brewery’s first U.S. location outside of California. Announced in July, plans for the 10,000-square-foot space include a brewery, restaurant, bar and shop that will be open year-round.
The brewery is slated for an early-2018 opening. It will be the Denmark-based company’s 32nd location worldwide.
