Detectives are investigating a deadly incident at a Woodside intersection on Wednesday afternoon that claimed the life of an 83-year-old woman.
Police said the incident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 14 at the corner of Woodside Avenue and 57th Street.
According to law enforcement sources, the unidentified female victim was walking westbound along Woodside Avenue attempting to cross at 57th Street. She was then struck by a black 2006 Toyota Highlander which was turning northbound onto 57th Street from Woodside Avenue.
The SUV’s driver remained at the scene following the incident.
Officers from the 108th Precinct responded along with EMS units, who pronounced the woman dead. Her identity was withheld pending family notification.
The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is looking into the incident.
