Take a ride through a Fresh Meadows bike trail during this mountain biking event for all ages next month.
On Oct. 6, Trips for Kids Metro New York (TFK) will host Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day at Cunningham Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day will celebrate the 11th anniversary of Cunningham Park’s North Woods Mountain Bike Trail.
TFK is a nonprofit organization that hosts mountain bike outings and environmental education for kids who usually wouldn’t have these opportunities.
“Our rides activate and excite a child’s personal awareness through interaction with the environment and physical activity,” said Andrée Sanders, who has served as the organization’s executive director for the past 12 years.
The event is free and open to the public. Activities for the day include beginner mountain bike lessons, guide trail rides at beginner and intermediate levels, a kid’s obstacle course, bicycle art and a pump track. TFK will provide mountain bikes and helmets for those who don’t have one.
