Police need the public’s help in identifying a man caught on video entering an Astoria apartment building that has been burglarized three times in two months.
Law enforcement sources said the building’s most recent burglary occurred between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Oct. 19, when an unidentified man somehow gained entry into the residential building located close to 27th Street and 25th Road and absconded with $3,400 worth of jewelry.
Police video footage is from the building’s second break-in, which occurred on Thursday, Oct. 18. Footage shows a man, wearing white gloves, scoping out an apartment while covering the lower half of his face. Once the suspect notices the camera, he turns the device upwards to further conceal himself.
The initial burglary happened on Sept. 5 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. According to police, the crook took off with savings bonds, jewelry and $3,000.
