A Jamaica art center is highlighting work from New York City-based artists in a newly opened exhibit.

Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning (JCAL) has officially opened annual Artist Co-op exhibit. Originally a member-based program, JCAL’s Artist Co-ops have opened up to local artists in an effort to highlight emerging and mid-career artists from Queens and the other boroughs of New York City.

The exhibition’s goal is to feature the diversity, talent and quality of work in the Visual Arts of Queens.

This year, the Artist Co-op exhibit features a variety of mixed-media pieces, paintings and sculptures. This year’s artists are Stephanie Germosen, Shawarga Bhattacharjee, Yukiko Nakashima, Ken Goshen, Max Sarmiento, Jamie Kim, Omo Pastor, Michel Leory, MiYoung Sohn, Ciro Quintana, Marc Brown and Firoz Mahmud.

The exhibition will be open to the public until Jan. 5, 2019, at the Miller Gallery, located in the Jamaica Arts Center at 161-04 Jamaica Ave. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
