AVP of Qatar Airways, Eric Odone was on hand to greet the inaugural flight of the newest aircraft, the Airbus A350-1000, to JFK Airport along with many journalists invited to see the new plane. The event was to give the media a chance to see new plane up close and personal and learn about the high-end features of its technology and the opulent QSuite business class. Qatar says that this plane is the first in service around the world and JFK Airport is the inaugural destination from Doha, Qatar. According to Odone, this aircraft has many new technological features that make it a great plane: it has two instead of four engines making is 30% more fuel efficient than other aircraft in its fleet. It has special lighting and air filtration that mitigates the effects of jet lag. It has a good combination of passenger to cargo ratio making it a more efficient plane for the carrier. It has newer engines making is a lot guieter than older aircraft that will ease the noise over nearby communities.
He said is was a great plane for the traveler. Odone was proud to introduce the QSuite array of features for the business class traveler. These include the lavish interior with a complete entertainment system, the new multiple configurations from the one privacy chamber to the 2-3 business seating aft and forward facing seats which are excellent for business meetings as well as the two business seats which can convert to a double seat bed at the same price as standard business class pricing.
The A350-1000 is now a regular service between Doha, Qatar and JFK Airport.
