Senior fatally struck by SUV while trying to cross Flushing street: NYPD

FLUSHING — Attempting to walk across a Flushing street proved fatal for a senior man who was struck and killed by an SUV Saturday afternoon.

Police said the incident occurred Nov. 10 at 5:03 p.m. in the vicinity of Parsons Boulevard and 27th Avenue.

According to law enforcement sources, the 86-year-old man was walking west to east across Parsons Boulevard when he was hit by a Toyota Highlander traveling northbound on the roadway.

Officers from the 109th Precinct and EMS responded to the scene and found the victim with head and body trauma. Paramedics rushed him to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police have withheld his identity, pending family notification.

The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is handling the case and no arrests have been made at this time.
