Queens Boulevard at 56th Avenue (Google Maps)

A 73-year-old Elmhurst woman is dead after being struck by an SUV on Monday morning while crossing Queens Boulevard.
Police say Yimei Gao was crossing Queens Boulevard from north to south at 56th Avenue when she was hit by the 38-year-old male driver of a 2017 Kia driving west on the boulevard at around 6:20 a.m.
Paramedics found the 73-year-old unconscious on the roadway with trauma about her body, and pronounced her dead at the scene.
The driver, according to police, remained on the scene.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
