Six out of seven members of Community Board 6’s executive board are new officers, after an election replaced all but one long standing officer last week.
At a Sept. 12 meeting, Alexa Weitzman was elected the new chair of the board, defeating Joseph Hennessy who held the position for years.
Gail Gordon was the only incumbent to withhold her position. She remained first vice chair, running unopposed after another member declined to accept a nomination for the position, according to the Queens Chronicle.
All other executive board members are new to their positions.
“There’s a clean slate of officers right now,” said the District Manager Frank Gulluscio.
Peter Beadle replaced Steven Goldberg as second vice chair. Goldberg withdrew his name once Beadle was nominated.
Mark Laster replaced Naomi Altman as vice chair of secretary, Bruce Grossberg replaced Gregory Carlson as vice chair of finance, Prameet Kumar replaced Norman Leibowitz as vice chair of land use and Soumaly King replaced Robert Silver as vice chair of scoping. All of the former vice chairs ran in the election, but were defeated.
Community Board 6 represents the neighborhoods of Forest Hills and Rego Park.
