The popular Swedish homeware and furniture store IKEA is coming to Queens next summer in Rego Park.

IKEA Queens will take over 115,000 square feet of space within the Rego Center shopping mall at the corner of Queens Boulevard and Junction Boulevard.

The company said it is was attracted to the Rego Center mall given its proximity to public transportation. The center is served by the E, M and R subway lines and by several bus lines.

IKEA announced today that it would open in summer 2020. The Queens IKEA will be the company’s third store within the five boroughs, following its long-standing location in Brooklyn and its new Manhattan Planning Studio, which opened in April.

The new store will feature thousands of IKEA products available to purchase and take home, while larger furniture items will be displayed and available for delivery. It will also offer Swedish cuisine and family-friendly spaces for shoppers with children.

“With a growing community of more than 900,000 households, Queens was a natural next destination for IKEA in New York City,” said Leontyne Green Sykes, Chief Operating Officer, IKEA Retail U.S. “We know that more than half of Queens’ residents travel via public transportation, and we selected Rego Park…to meet the unique needs of this customer.”
