Man Punched on Elmhurst Street Left in a Coma, Cops Searching for Suspect

A man was punched on an Elmhurst street earlier this month and remains in a coma, police said.

The victim, 53, was allegedly struck by a man while walking past 92-04 Corona Ave. on July 12, at around 1:30 a.m., according to police.

The victim had gotten into a dispute with the suspect who then punched him in the face, police said. The police did not provide details as to the cause of the argument.

The victim fell as a result of the assault and hit his head on the pavement causing him to lose consciousness.

He was transferred to NYC Health & Hospitals/Elmhurst in serious condition. He is still in a coma, police said.

The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Video footage and a photo of the suspect has been released.
