Cops investigating after two men found dead in Queens on Saturday

Police are investigating the deaths of two men who were found early Saturday morning.

Officers from the 110th Precinct responded to a 911 call at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 5 regarding an unconscious man in front of 89-45 Elmhurst Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, the officers discovered an unconscious Hispanic man — believed to be approximately 40 years old — laying on a basement staircase with trauma to his head. EMS arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Police have yet to identify the man. A medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death and the investigation is ongoing.

Approximately two hours later, at 8:10 a.m., officers from the 106th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding an unconscious man near 132-03 120th Ave. in South Ozone Park. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found 50-year-old Rakha Roopnarine laying on a mattress unconscious.

EMS arrived and pronounced Roppnarine — who is believed to be homeless — dead at the scene.  A medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death and the investigation is ongoing.
