A 19-year-old was arrested Wednesday after he struck a pedestrian in Glendale and drove off.

Brian Singh, of South Richmond Hill, was driving a GMC Yukon at 2:40 p.m. when he hopped a center median at Myrtle Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard and hit a 17-year-old pedestrian, police said.

The victim was rushed to Cohen Children’s Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition, a police spokesperson said Thursday.

Singh originally left the scene of the crash, but returned and was arrested shortly after 3 p.m., the spokesperson said.

The 19-year-old told police officers that he had fallen asleep behind the wheel.

He was charged with leaving the scene and reckless driving, police said.
