Local man charged with murder in 2020 Far Rockaway shooting

The NYPD has made an arrest in a shooting death that occurred in Far Rockaway last summer.

Police cuffed 31-year-old Tyrell Davis, of Mott Avenue, and charged him in connection to the murder of 35-year-old Eric Thomas on Aug. 1, 2020, according to the NYPD.

It was just after 6:30 a.m. when officers from the 101st Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a man shot inside 22-30 Dix Ave.

Upon arrival, police discovered the victim lying on the ground in the doorway of apartment 1C with a gunshot wound to the torso.

EMS responded and transported Thomas to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Davis was arrested just after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, and charged with murder, two counts of possession of a loaded weapon and menacing, according to the NYPD.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
