A Dollar Tree store was robbed at gunpoint in Sunnyside Sunday, less than 24 hours after a Dollar Store in Middle Village was robbed in the same manner, according to police.

Police say a suspect walked into the Dollar Tree store at 39-09 Queens Blvd. in Sunnyside Sunday at around 4 p.m. and brandished a firearm in front of a 30-year-old male employee.

The suspect then robbed a safe inside the store and fled the scene with around $1,000 cash, according to police.

The suspect is described as a man in his 30s who weighs around 180 pounds.

On Saturday, a suspect using the same modus operandi held up the Dollar Tree store at 78-02 Metropolitan Ave. in Middle Village at around 9:30 p.m., police said.

The suspect brandished a gun and demanded cash from a 62-year-old male worker at the store before stealing around $1,000 from a register. He then fled the scene on foot, police said.

Police do not know if both incidents are related.

No arrests have been made and no injuries were reported.
