Police from the 110th Precinct in Elmhurst are searching for a man who attempted to rob a Jackson Heights bank Wednesday afternoon.
The suspect entered the Santander Bank branch located at 83-20 Roosevelt Ave. at around 4:21 p.m. and proceeded to pass a note to a teller demanding money. The man claimed to have a firearm but did not display it, police said.
The teller refused to comply and the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction empty-handed, police said, adding there were no reports of injuries during the failed bank heist.
The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspect who appeared to be wearing a dark Brooklyn Dodgers baseball cap and a black T-shirt with “Trap Addict” written across the chest in yellow lettering. He also wore a black face mask, dark pants and dark sneakers.
Anyone with information in regard to the identity of the suspects is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA (74782).
