An elderly man was assaulted as he walked with a cane on a quiet residential street in Ozone Park during an attempted robbery at knifepoint in broad daylight Friday afternoon.

Police from the 102nd Precinct in Richmond Hill are looking for a man who approached the 75-year-old victim in the vicinity of 97th Avenue and 80th Street at around 2:20 p.m. and pushed the old man into a fence, knocking him to the sidewalk.

The suspect then displayed a knife and demanded the victim’s property. The assailant began going through the man’s pockets but came away empty-handed and fled the location on foot in an unknown direction, police said.

EMS responded to the crime scene and transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition, police said.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the assault Sunday that showed the suspect in a black hooded sweatshirt wearing a blue face mask with red sweatpants and black sneakers.

Anyone with information in regard to the identity of the suspects is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA (74782).
