Honda driver sought in Jackson Heights hit-and-run: NYPD

A man was critically injured in Jackson Heights early Tuesday morning, Aug. 16, when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver as he tried to cross Roosevelt Avenue, according to authorities.

Police from the 110th Precinct in Elmhurst responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck near 77th Street just after 2 a.m. on Aug. 16. Upon their arrival, officers found the 45-year-old victim unconscious and unresponsive lying in the roadway with severe body trauma, police said.

EMS responded to the scene and rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital Center where he is listed in critical condition, according to authorities.

The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that the victim was struck by a dark-colored Honda sedan traveling eastbound on Roosevelt Avenue. The driver of the vehicle drove off, police said.

There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
