A 20-year-old man was killed in Hollis Hills early Sunday morning when he lost control of his car on the Clearview Expressway in Cunningham Park, according to the NYPD.

Police from the 107th Precinct in Fresh Meadows responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision on the northbound Clearview Expressway near Exit 4 at 2:18 a.m. on Oct. 16 and found two men inside the wreck. EMS responded and pronounced the driver dead at the scene. They removed the passenger and transported him to NewYork Presbyterian-Queens with head and body trauma. He was listed in critical condition.

A preliminary investigation determined the driver was operating a 2007 Honda Accord at a high rate of speed passing over 73rd Avenue when he struck a guardrail in the center of the highway. The vehicle then veered across the lanes to the right shoulder where it collided with a tree, killing the driver and leaving the passenger critically injured, police said.

The identity of the driver is pending family notification.
