A Jamaica man died more than three months after he was gunned down in a Waltham Street shooting, and the investigation into his death has been reclassified as a homicide, the NYPD announced Thursday, Nov. 17.

Julian Askew, 29, succumbed to his injuries at Queens Hospital in Jamaica and was pronounced dead on Monday, Nov. 14, police said.

During the early morning hours of Friday, Aug. 5, officers from the 103rd Precinct in Jamaica responded to a 911 call of a man shot in front of an apartment building at 106-15 Waltham St., and they found Askew with a gunshot wound to his chest.

EMS responded to the crime scene and rushed him to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in critical condition.

Askew was recuperating at his home on Guy R. Brewer Boulevard near 109th Avenue when he took a turn for the worse on Monday, police said. He was taken to Queens Hospital, where he died later that day.

There are no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.
