Cityline Ozone Park Civilian Patrol spreads holiday cheer distributing toys to children in the community

Elected officials and community leaders joined the Cityline Ozone Park Civilian Patrol (COPCP) on Sunday, Dec. 18, in bringing holiday cheer to over 450 children with a festival toy giveaway at the Deshi Senior Center. 

COPCP, along with numerous organizations and individuals, donated toys and supported the event, held at the center, located at 83-10 Rockaway Blvd.

“It was an absolute joy to see the children’s faces light up as they received their toys,” said Mohammad Khan, executive director of COPCP. “We are so grateful to be able to bring a little bit of happiness to these children during the holiday season.”

Toys 4 Tots and the NYPD’s 102nd Precinct contributed a generous supply of toys. The student council at P.S. 64Q joined COPCP in volunteering at the event and held their own toy collection drive, contributing to the selection of gifts and treats available. Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and BACDYS also sponsored and helped at the event.

Senator Joseph Addabbo Jr., Community Board 9 Chair Sherry Algredo, representatives from Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar’s office and District Leader Richard David attended the toy giveaway and expressed their support for COPCP’s efforts.

P.S. 108Q and P.S. 63Q donated toys from their holiday collection, and Shivrams Bakery and Trini Delite provided food for the event. Rajkumar hosted a toy collection drive in the lead-up to the event and Councilwoman Joann Ariola helped spread awareness about the event.

COPCP provided a festive atmosphere with holiday music and decorations, as well as a hot chocolate station and a selection of cookies and sweets. The organization also distributed leggings and jackets to families in attendance, helping to keep them warm during the winter season.

“Our volunteers have worked tirelessly to make this event a success, and it’s all worth it to see the smiles on the children’s faces. We are also grateful for the generosity and support of all the organizations and individuals who helped make this event possible,” said COPCP Secretary Patrica Raghunandan.
