The New York State Veterans’ Home in St. Albans receives a collection of generous donations, thanks to the support of Queens Assemblyman Edward Braunstein.

Residents, schools and northeast Queens organizations donated puzzles, candy, clothing and more to Braunstein’s annual “Valentines for Vets” gift drive. Additionally, Bayside Girl Scout Troop #4279 made greeting cards for the local veterans.

“This important tradition gives the local community the opportunity to thank our veterans for their sacrifices. I want to thank each and every person who helped put a smile on a local veteran’s face and make this year’s drive a great success” Braunstein stated.

The ‘Valentines for Vet’s gift drive’ occurs yearly with Braunstein’s sponsorship and the support of local donations.

“I was proud to deliver hundreds of gifts to hospitalized & disabled veterans at the NYS Vets Home at St. Albans” he tweeted on Valentine’s day.

The New York State Veterans’ Home provides services to hospitalized and disabled veterans, such as residential, nursing, and rehabilitation care for veterans and their family members.
